03 · The approach
Before the result, the origin of the vocal gesture.
The subtraction exercises, documented in the book since late 2017, involve working without vocal emission. The absence of sound does not make the work passive: the singer continues to perceive the body expanding with the breath, the column of air, glottal closure and the movement of the tongue and lips.

The book is the starting point of the journey. It brings together principles and exercises connecting technique, perception and freedom of expression.

ART PROGRAM
ART PROGRAM is a method supported by a long-standing programme of scientific research, connecting the body, movement, emotion and voice in the relationship between the person and the performer. It was created by Katia Pietrobelli, actress and emotional coach, in collaboration with Floriana Comezzi, speech therapist, vocologist and psychologist, and Alex Parravano. The practical work, which has involved collecting data from more than 50 professional artists’ voices, is already active in Italy; the first official masterclass was held on 22 July 2026 in Prato at the Conservatorio Cicognini.
